Drug Intervention utah

I recently watched an episode of Intervention and I have a question about the blessing that Mormon’s receive..?

The girl on the episode was saying that this is a very important thing to Mormon’s. But how do they come up with what they say in the blessing? What do they base it off of? She was told she would have many hardships in her life, and she took that to mean she would never have a husband or children. That is something, as stated on the show, that is very important to Mormon females. They lived in Utah on the show. Her sister was told that she would have many children and would be very blessed, or something like that. How do they know it is different for each individual? I guess I am just curious, because the girl who was told she would have hardships took it very badly, and ended up being depressed by it and doing drugs. I guess that is why I am wondering why this blessing is so important, and where it comes from, etc. I am not Mormon, obviously, and that is why I don’t understand this. And I want to understand. I am not trying to judge or be rude. I am just curious, that is all.

I’m LDS and I’m not 100% sure what blessing you are talking about.

As LDS we believe in many blessings and miracles in our days, as products of faith as well as the priesthood authority restored in our day by the hands of the ancient apostles, Peter, James and John.

The blessing you mentioned could have been a blessing of comfort, given in times of trial, or a blessing of health, given to the sick after they have been typically anointed with oil.

The only other blessing that I feel you might be referring to is called a Patriarchal Blessing, given by an ordained patriarch of the church–which is a very special office in the church. This blessing is given only once in your life, generally as a teenager or young adult, and contains some very specific and sacred counsel for you individually in your life.

I have participated in all of the above mentioned blessings and they are some of the experiences I will hold most sacred for the rest of my life, when I felt like I was particularly close to God for just a split second–especially my patriarchal blessing.

I know God exists and manifests Himself and His spirit in our day.

I hope that’s what you were looking for, if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
