Nature insists on “survival of the fittest”, so if we help failure genes reproduce aren’t we making trouble?
There’s a massive obesity problem amongst badly educated people in the UK right now. Despite millions spent on health awareness adverts and interventions, the peasants are still killing themselves with processed food, alcohol and drugs. The government spends billions bankrolling these numpties who refuse to help themselves and their children through benefits and financial incentives to stay lazy. This is good because we are humans and can’t see people dying on the street. But according to natural law these people would just die. Who are we to go against nature? and are we not just allowing bad genes to infect the greater homo sapien gene pool?
I’m talking purely hyperthetically here of course, as I don’t advocate leaving idiots to die at the roadside, but how are we helping the world by funding the reproduction of feckless?
@SufferDefeat. Exactly! But I’m intelligent enough to have afforded a security guard to blow away your redneck ass at my gates!!!
Hi Isaac,
There may be a more subtle process going on then the mere survival of fit individuals. Since you’re a successful, well-off guy, I assume you’re benefiting by the current technological/economic/political system. If you own stock in corporations for example, your welfare depends on those companies having a profitable bottom line. To be successful, companies need to sell goods/services in the marketplace. Some of those goods/services help feed the “peasants” you referenced. In other words you make money because the unwashed masses, who refuse to help themselves and their children, buy and consume the products that pay your security guard and keep you in the style to which you’ve become accustomed. It’s clear that at least APPEARING to be concerned for the well-being of the peasants keeps them from showing up at your gate with pitchforks and torches. IOW, the survival of the privileged classes depends on their finding ways to mollify the peasants… [See French Revolution]. Comfort food, mindless TV to provide entertainment, and having lots of kids who can become consumers to replace their parents who will die prematurely due to the very products you sell them are your metaphorical bread and butter. Soooo… The unit of survival isn’t the individual… Regards.
You are a model. Teens are watching you and how you handle crisis situations in your life. alcohol intervention uk They look at your problem solving skills and often times use them as their own. So if you solve your problems with alcohol, they may do the same.
