Is the Australian Govt promoting a culture of distain towards Aboriginal people to justify years of neglect??
The NT Intervention Strategies being put in place only show the negative side of Aboriginal traditional society. The problems highlighted can and are reflected in mainstream Australian society often at more serious levels, but we do not see the average aussie portrayed as a drunken, drug addicted, unemployed, pedophile, family violence perpetrator unable to wash his child’s face or to ensure the child attend school.
Let’s not forget these problems exist throughout Australia in all cultural groups. Most are addressed through the provision of adequate community based services. So why single out one race?? Is this another case of “Blame the Victims” because of the Government’s continual failure to provide an equal standard of living to all people in this lucky country. Darwin would be proud.
It’s another children overboard scam by howard to get votes. Howard appeals to the old, conservative voters who are all dying off now, and i hope that the younger people in our country are smart enough to see through these lies.
