He has missed alot of work. I have smelled alcohol on his breath on a job site. He has left for lunch and never come back several times. His marriage is on it’s way out. He has 2 children 11 and 13. He can’t afford to loose this job.
If you are asking if it is acceptable for a boss to take part in an intervention the answer is yes. If you work for a corporation you might want to check with them concerning company policy and potential legal issues first. Personally I would sit down and discuss this with the person organizing the intervention and be sure that they knew what they were doing before agreeing to be involved. A lot of people like to dabble in psychology and pretend they know what they are doing.
I have been involved in interventions that worked and in a few disastrous attempts. It is good to take care of our fellow humans.
