Drug Intervention toronto

Is it possible to have someone forced into drug rehab in Ontario (Toronto)? If so How?

I’ve read about psychiatric interventions where a person is forced into a psych ward and have a mandatory 72 hour time they have to stay in which time they are evaluated. I was wondering if there is something like this for drug addicts

In Ontario, under the Mental Health Act, a person may be held, under a Form One , for a short mental exam, to determine if they need further treatment.

I have never heard of a Judge granting a “Judges Order ” to detain a person for drug treatment. It has to bea voluntary choice, and there is no provision in Canadian law to force some one, even a person who is serving a sentence in a prison, to take addiction treatment. It comes down to their legal right to refuse treatment.

The same principle applies to paedophiles in prison in Canada. They don’t have to take treatment, either, if they choose not to.
