Alcohol Intervention test
how long does pot stay in pregnant woman’s system?
My 21 yr old brother has been in & out of rehab for the past 4 years for meth, pot, pills and alcohol. We recently found out that his girlfriend is pregnant and plans to continue smoking pot until 30 days before the baby is born because the state they live in drug tests babies. My question is how long does pot stay in a babies system? I’ve heard anywhere from 10-120 days. Will it go through withdrawal symptoms? What can we as a family do? We are planning an intervention which probably will not work considering their history. We are devastated. please provide links if possible. THANKS!
Contrary to popular belive, pot is a non-addictive drug. The most common form of addiction the emotional addiction that people have with it. This is one of the reasons why there is such a big fight in this country to make it legal. The baby will not go through withdrawls because it does not have any emotional attatchment to the drug itself. Pot is also a fairly “clean” drug, and it is actually better for the baby than smoking cigarretts, especially if it is filtered, because there are no additives.
I personally have a friend who smokes pot to ease her morning sickness. I don’t agree with it at all, but she says it works. What you should be more concerned about is the smoke inhalation and what that will do to the baby. As for how long it will stay in her system, if you cannot stop her from smoking it, then tell her to at least give it up 2 months before she has the baby. 30 days is usually long enough, but she could always go into labor early.
I’ll probably get tons of thumbs down for this answer, but I thought I’d give you more of the facts about the drug. I personally don’t agree with smoking it at all, pregnant or not, but as a realist I know that you are right, there is probably nothing that you will be able to do to stop her. Also, even though I don’t agree with the drug, i don’t see why it is illegal when things like cigarrettes and alcohol are legal. I don’t see how it is any different.
Congrats on becoming an aunt!
