How would I start on the career path to be an interventionist?
I want to become a Drug Interventionist. How would I go about doing this?
you’ll need at least 2 years of (tertiary education) counselling training through a recognised programme – including counselling theory, supervised practical work, self-awareness, and bicultural studies.
in high school, you should study for 4 years at the least. English and languages are useful.
you’ll need communicating & listening skills, analysis & evaluation & research skills, understanding of human development & behaviour & relationships, understand in of social issues.
useful experience includes social or community work, any other work that involves helping & caring for other people, life experiences, and/or researching in a similar field.
you should be positive, non-judgemental, supportive, caring, inspiring, patient, mature, able to relate to many different people, and sensitive.
you’ll learn skills on the job, but you’re encouraged to go to workshops & seminars & courses to keep up-to-date in changes.
You are a model. Teens are watching you and how you handle crisis situations in your life. drug interventionists They look at your problem solving skills and often times use them as their own. So if you solve your problems with alcohol, they may do the same.
